He and a fellow newcomer wander the halls looking for the same room, and he mentions Chloe before heading to class. She talks him into helping with a stack of books. Inside the room, the door closes and the conversation changes.
Our take A tidy campus setup with a believable lost-in-the-hallway meet. The books excuse is flimsy on purpose, and the turn at the door is nicely abrupt. Earns episode 2 on pace alone.

He tries to leave and does not get far. When Chloe calls and suggests meeting in the courtyard, he is forced to improvise a lie while the new girl listens. A few spare minutes become the argument she makes for staying.
Our take The girlfriend's call is the best device so far, forcing a bad lie in real time. Slightly repetitive in its pleading, but the closing logic is wickedly persuasive.

Synopsis

Room two-oh-four is hard to find, and so is the right moment to bring up a girlfriend. A new student asks for directions on his first day, and a second newcomer volunteers to get lost with him. They chat, she asks the question he answers too honestly, and Chloe's name comes up. Then the stranger remembers she left some books in her dorm. A quick favor, she promises. Behind a closed door she has a different lesson in mind, and he has a girlfriend waiting in a courtyard with a phone in her hand. The semester has just begun, and the syllabus is already off track.

Watch it if...

This is the pick for viewers who enjoy a good almost-caught story. It has a clean premise, a magnetic new arrival and a girlfriend whose calls land at the worst possible moment. The tension comes from small lies told under pressure, and the campus setting gives each scene a ticking clock.
