Episodes

  1. 1. Episode 1 1 min 11 sFree, no account

Vanessa lays out the terms: leave by Friday or pay another way. Jake gives in. The next week, he meets Mia in the hallway, who figures it out instantly and offers a quiet bargain of her own.

Our take The landlady's ultimatum is delivered with cool authority, and the twist with her daughter in the hallway changes the temperature quickly. Dense for a short episode, and it clearly earns the next.

  2. 2

    2. Episode 2 about 1 minFree with an account

Mia collects her share and lets him know it. Jake juggles two secret schedules, ignores suspicious messages and tries not to let her mother notice. Downstairs, Vanessa waits, and Mia says it is time for the main event.

Our take The double-secret structure is the best idea in the series, and the daughter's takeover is delivered with relish. The jealousy over messages adds comic tension. Easily the strongest hook for the paid episodes.

Synopsis

Jake has nothing in the bank, no income and a notice taped to his door. His landlady, Vanessa, offers him an alternative to eviction, and he is in no position to refuse. She is elegant, stern and entirely in charge, and the arrangement runs like clockwork. Then he runs into Mia, Vanessa's daughter, who is quick to work out what the new tenant has been doing and asks for the same terms. Two landladies, one tenant and a building where the walls are not as thick as they seem. Jake's rent now depends on keeping a secret from two people who both think they are the only one.

Watch it if...

A great option for fans of power games and ticking secrets. Vanessa is poised and commanding, Mia is mischievous, and Jake is the man trapped between them with nowhere to hide. The building setting adds close calls on stairs and doors. The pacing is brisk, the stakes are simple and the question of who is going to find out first keeps the tension alive.
