Theo arrives with his girlfriend and gets caught staring at her stepmother. The snow makes leaving impossible, and the stepmom refills his glass at dinner. She finally asks him a blunt question about what he wants.

Our take The snowstorm is a handy trap, and the stepmom's wine refills do a lot of work. A touch slow in the middle, but her blunt question at the end is a great hook.

The next morning goes sideways when someone watches from a doorway. The girlfriend storms off to find him, and the stepmom tells him he has about two minutes to follow her or spend days wishing he had.

Our take A big step up in drama. The girlfriend storming off sets a ticking countdown, and the stepmom's two minute ultimatum is deliciously rude. It sells the paid episodes well.

Synopsis

Theo fought through a blizzard to reach the family home, and now the storm will not let him leave. The trains are dead until Tuesday, the house is large, and her stepmom has strong opinions about wine and about people who stare. She caught him looking the moment he walked in, and she is not offended. Over dinner she asks him a direct question that he cannot answer in front of his girlfriend. The longer the snow falls, the thinner the excuses get. By the second morning, the girlfriend is out looking for him, and there are two minutes to decide.

Watch it if...

A strong choice for cabin-fever tension, with a household that cannot get away from itself. The snow is both a wall and a clock, the stepmom is the calmest person in every scene, and the girlfriend's near misses add comic pressure. Cozy and risky in equal parts.
