Kyle meets his new stepmother, and Dad heads off for the summer. Alone in the house, Kyle learns about the bathroom door that will not latch, and a very awkward exchange follows.

Our take An easygoing summer setup with a latch that will not close doing a lot of work. The dialogue is thin in places, but the stepmom's confidence carries it. Fine for a first look.

Skye catches Kyle pretending to watch television, then welcomes a friend with wine. Kyle tries to leave the room, but he has already looked, and she knows it. The episode ends on a plea he cannot answer.

Our take The open door scene works, and the friend with wine adds a welcome third voice. Still thin on dialogue, but the cliffhanger line lands. A modest step up that leans on mood.

Synopsis

Kyle's father has remarried, and the new wife, Skye, is nothing like the stepmother he pictured. Dad leaves for the whole season with a breezy goodbye, and the house suddenly feels much smaller. Skye is confident, teasing and fond of rules she makes up on the spot: sit down, keep your hands to yourself, watch. Then she invites a friend over, and the rulebook goes out the window. Kyle spends the summer trying to keep his eyes in his own lane, and it is not going well. Every hallway is a test, and every closed door is only an opinion.

Watch it if...

A good fit for fans of the forbidden-household comedy, where the tension lives in doorways, glances and teasing. Skye is flirty and in charge, Kyle is hopelessly flustered, and the house is a pressure cooker with a whole summer to burn. It plays light, fast and mischievous, perfect for a quick binge on a lazy evening.
